ABOUT HOUSTON GROUND ANGELS

Houston Ground Angels provides free ground transportation ( we call each ride a Mission ) to medical Patients into and out of the Texas Medical Center.  Our volunteer drivers gift the patients their compassion, time and vehicle expenses to improve their treatment journey.  We get them to their specialized treatment, reducing their emotional stress, physical discomfort and financial burden.

Based in Houston – Texas, Houston Ground Angels has 2 staff, and around 100 Ground Angel volunteers.  Our volunteer drivers have run more than 38,000 missions since the group was formed.  Care and compassion for the patient is our priority.

Our Houston Ground Angel volunteers donate their time, automobiles and gasoline.  There is no cost to our patient riders.  Donations from the people we serve support our operating costs.

Eligibility to participate in our program is open to all ambulatory patients, caregivers, and patient’s family who need our help.  Eligibility is not based on financial need, and patients may travel as often as needed.

In 2023 – more than 4650 missions were completed – a record year.   In 2024 we are heading towards a new record – the need is great – we need more volunteers.

mission statement

Houston Ground Angels resolve to be there whenever possible with a Ground Angel volunteer to give the Patient or their family member a ride to their medical treatment facility.  We provide complimentary ground transportation for local Houston patients and those flying in from out-of-town – getting to and from their medical care at both local clinics and Houston’s Texas Medical Center which includes the MD Anderson Cancer treatment center.  Transportation (known as Missions) is provided by driver volunteers (Angels) who donate their time, automobiles and gasoline.
