Air Transportation - Houston Area AIRPORTS

Houston Ground Angels do NOT provide air transportation.  Commercial carriers fly in and out of the primary airports HOU Hobby and IAH Bush.

Houston Ground Angels provides ground transportation to those on commercial airlines and also those arriving or leaving on private planes that land at the smaller airports across the Houston Area.

Check with your Patient Counsellor/Social Worker or Treatment Advocate – if they can support your application for low cost/free air tickets with your planned commercial airline carrier.  American, Delta, Southwest and United all assist patients subject to certain qualifications.

There are a number of private flight organizations that provide low cost or free air travel to and from Houston for patients and their caregivers.  These “angel” flight organizations are not part of Houston Ground Angels, so patients must  must work with these groups directly.    Patients/caregivers must enter their ground ride request online – see PATIENT – Request a RIDE.

These are some of the smaller airports that our volunteers service:  Ellington Airport ; Texas Gulf Coast Regional Airport ; Sugar Land Regional ; David Wayne Hooks ; West Houston ; Houston Southwest ; Pearland Regional ; Cleveland Municipal ; Houston Executive ; Conroe-North Houston ; Baytown ; La Porte.  Plus the bigger Bush and HOBBY airports.

ANGEL FLIGHT groups co-ordinate corporate and private patient flights.  Patients seeking angel flights should always contact these flight groups direct.

When your flight details are known, complete a Request a Ride form on our website, scrolling down some and clicking on the purple button. The brief form will take you approximately 30-60 seconds to complete. For the airline carrier, you would put one of the above flight organizations if you are flying on them, otherwise, of course put your air carrier such as Delta or Southwest.

Where possible, we will assist with the road leg to or from the patient’s flight airport.

Always check and look up across the internet for possible flight help in your area.  We hope your persistence will be rewarded.

The Dow Chemical Company flies out of Michigan, Louisiana and other states and offers free rides for medical patients (not just employees or relatives).  Dow offers their flight assistance services  via the Corporate Angel Network and in our Houston area – fly in and out of the Gulf Coast Regional airport, Brazoria County (LBX) in Angleton, south of Houston.  Phone:  (914) 328-1313
